NFEndurance

First, I want to thank all the people who have donated in my past runs. I could not have done it without your help and support. As many of you may or may not know, I have NF Type I and am very fortunate with my health and run to raise awareness and support for this disorder. Neurofibromatosis encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that causes tumors to grow along various types of nerves. NF can also affect the development of non-nervous tissues such as bones and skin. Neurofibromatosis causes tumors to grow anywhere on or in the body.  Please visit the Children’s Tumor Foundation for more information.

I will be running my 11th marathon on May 6th, 2011 for the Children's Tumor Foundation at the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati. I am now on my 6th year of running marathons for the Children's Tumor Foundation. I have run a total of 10 Marathons one of which was an ultra 50K and 3 half marathons and each step we take is one step closer to solving the puzzle.

Lost in a Ripple of Time

Autumn winds approach ever closer
As the world turns and the days pass by
While the setting sun dips beneath the horizon
And brings the heavens to rise
I am lost in a ripple of time

Trees swing and sway in harmony
Chanting to the rhythm of forgotten forest
As they lay their leaves gently down
To the crimson woodland floor
I am lost in a ripple of time

The eternal waters of the river
Flows with such vigor and vibrancy
As it dances flawlessly down the valley floor
To the beat of the roaring thunder above
I am lost in a ripple of time

Humble with poise she is the guardian of all
Stretching as far as the eye can see
Undaunted against the tempest clouds
Speaking words of wisdom
I am lost in a ripple of time

Tall and golden to the touch
The mighty blue grass
Bows to the hymn of the prier
Praying for Mother Nature’s tears
I am lost in a ripple of time

The majestic blue and gray empire
An intrepid sea of glory
Weans and wanes with delight
As it carves its unbounded edge
I am lost in a ripple of time

As the spring flowers bloom and blossom
Sparkling light emerges slowly
Across the distant faded horizon line
Revealing a spectacle display of hope
Finding my way I am no longer lost in a ripple of time

Zenith

The road is the path,
Where it leads me
From foot to foot
I will take it.

Many summits and canyons
Will come on my course
Challenging me so many times,
I will run them all.

Never looking back
Eyes looking on the horizon
Keeping my measure
I move onward.

In many ways
The people I meet
I will always keep
In my heart.

A myriad of crossroads to choose
The ones I adopt
Have reasons to be journeyed
To continue the legacy of the road

Pulse

To the rooster’s crow
A race begins
Off to conquer the world
In one day’s time

Out the door I go
Black brew in hand
Tapping my foot
To the world that does not wait

Streets are paved in gold
Leading every which way
Wish I had a compass
It would save the day

In the labyrinth of life
The beast lurks near
I must follow my heart
Carrying the torch of hope

Arriving moments to spare
Flying up the stairs
Entering in grand style
A task is now at hand

Second by second
Perpetual hands tick
To the swing of the pendulum
And the beating of the drum

The Old North Tower
Plays a joyful tune
And on the twelfth chime
I jump with joy

Weary eyes wonder
Yawning, a sigh of relief
Patting myself on the back
To a job well done

Laying my head softly down
Onto clouds of feathers
Dreaming of adventure to come
And waiting for the rooster’s crow

LHHT Ultra

I am running my first ultra marathon in a few weeks. The ultra marathon takes place in the Laurel Highlands of South Western PA. My goal is just to finish and help spread the word about Neurofibromatosis.
